Loretta Lynn MX 1985 Wiseco

Among many things we wish to soon forget, 2020 marks the 39th annual Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn's ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN, this time brought to you by Monster Energy. Wiseco has supported what is now the largest amateur MX event in the nation since its inception in 1982, and the passion for motocross has only grown since then.

To honor the rich history of what is simply referred to as "Loretta's," we will be posting a small, but intriguing, piece of Loretta's history on our social channels for each day of racing during the 2020 Championships! Who knows, there may even be a quiz or two that could reward you with some Wiseco swag with a quick and correct answer. Check back daily for the most recent post!

🎞 #LorettaLynnMX History Day 4 🎞 The now-iconic Loretta's race bibs were originally implemented because all the riders, except for the previous year's top-ten, had to run double-digit numbers. The bibs were an easy way to make sure each rider's number for that year at the ranch was easily visible and not confused with something different that might've been on their jersey. The bibs quickly became a tradition at the ranch, and riders look forward to taking each years' bib home as a piece of MX history. However, in 1991, the 10th anniversary of Lorreta's, the bibs almost didn't happen due to some sponsor-related legal drama. Thankfully, things were worked out enough to maintain the bib tradition, and now the 10th anniversay bib is among the most iconic from Loretta's! #Wiseco #MX #LLMX #Motocross #Moto #MXHistory 📸: Thom Veety
